There is always something refreshing about ending the year and starting fresh. A new year is a great opportunity to reflect on the challenges presented this year, reflect on your growth and achievements, and reflect on what you’ve learned this year. Growth isn’t always easy, but it’s something to be proud of. Looking back on where you started the year VS where you are now is a beautiful thing that represents resilience!
Transformation begins with reflection. Realizing small choices lead to different life paths is part of becoming in tune with one’s self. What worked for you this year? What didn’t? What do you want to change this year?
How to begin the new year with intention
Setting intentions directs the minds to a purposeful headspace. When you go about life without intentions, it’s hard to lose focus of your goals. Focusing on what’s important to you creates clarity and room for self-discovery.
How do I start?
The desire to setting intentions comes from wanting to align with our values! Whether this be physical health, mental health, mindfulness, or something else, find what’s important to you. What makes you feel most like yourself?
Do you value alone time but consistently overfill your schedule? You need to understand your values to work towards growth! Think back to when you feel your best..what does that look like? Start by writing down the things you value the most in your life.
When writing a list of values, categorize them by the level of relevancy. For example, a root value we explain to our clients at NeuroMedici is the importance of being present with one’s self. Before beginning your treatment plan, it is crucial to understand how you are currently living life in order to see what needs to change.
2. Expand
Narrow down the values you have written down to 2 or 3. Find the ones that are most important to you and expand on them. How will you achieve this? What are you currently doing to align with these values and what can you add? Will this require daily practice? Find your why and tie it in with your intention!
Think of how you can achieve these goals and give yourself a realistic timeline on when you want to reach them.
3.Envision
Now that you have your intentions mapped out, you know what you need to do to get there, it’s time to envision! Having things on paper can help your mind soak it in! Write down how you can implement these goals into your every day life! Do you need to write every day? Meditate? Meal Prep? Find what these goals require from you and write it out!
Find a way to remind yourself daily! Make sticky notes, set reminders on your phone, or schedule it in your calendar! Whatever you do, just make sure you find a way to see your intentions every day!
We understand there is a lot of pressure to have these huge New Year’s Resolution every year. Although that’s a great thing to work towards, it is not necessary. Instead, we like to re-mold it as finding the best way to show up for yourself by reflecting on what did and didn’t work for you, and moving forward with that!
We hope everyone has a wonderful start to the New Year and finds their intentions with ease!
