A common question we get from patients new to ketamine is “Can’t I just get one infusion?”. In short, no, we do not allow new patients to get just one infusion for treatment unless it’s a booster or the patient has already completed a series of infusions elsewhere.

The reasoning for this is plain and simple, one infusion just isn’t as effective nor long-lasting. Research shows that one or two infusions do not have the same effect as completing a series of six infusions in a period of two to three weeks. Once a patient does complete their treatment plan, they will only need to report back for a booster which is completed as needed (typically every 2-3 months).

Repetition is needed to create change

Just as you need to practice a sport before you are good at it, your brain needs multiple infusions before it can create new transformational connections within the synapses. Completing a series of infusions allows your brain to create transformational changes through your central nervous system, transforming thoughts, emotions, and the way you process them.
