A vision board is a great way to organize and visualize your goals to help accomplish them. The best thing about a vision board is that it is completely customizable to you! Whether your goals are to focus more on yourself, focus on your career, put more time into creating bonds with your loved ones, or working on your health- a vision board can keep you accountable to your goals.
A vision board works by creating a physical board that helps you envision your goals since you are able to view them on paper. According to Psychology Today, mental practices (like visualization) can increase motivation, confidence, and even motor performance. In fact, in one study, researchers found that, in athletes, visualization was almost as effective as physical practice.
In addition, creating a vision board is a fun arts and crafts project that you can enjoy with others or by yourself! It’s a great way to stimulate the mind and bring out your creative side!
By placing your vision board somewhere you can see it each day, you will be prompted to visualize your ideal lifestyle every day. Visualization activates the creative powers of your subconscious mind and programs your brain to notice available resources that were always there but escaped your notice. Through the Law of Attraction, visualization also magnetizes and attracts to you the people, resources, and opportunities you need to achieve your goal.
1.) Figure out the goals that you want to achieve with this vision board-There are no right or wrong goals when creating a vision board-this is all about you! Keep in mind what your goals are and what you can do to achieve that.
2.)Collect photos and magazines that reflect your goals and inspire you -You will want to spend some time cutting out photos and words that align with your goals. When looking for images, you will want to find pictures that feel exciting and inspiring to you! Again, this is all about YOU! An example of this is if you were creating a vision board centered around mental health, you could find a person that seems to be at peace! These images should describe how you want to feel.
3.) Make a Collage of Your Photos-After you pick out your photos, you will want to make a photo collage on a poster board (your size of choice). You can glue, tack, or tape your photos in a way that is most aesthetically pleasing to you.
4.) Add Motivational/affirmation words to tie into your photo collage-Once your photo collage is complete, you can add on your affirmational words that you picked out! It is great to add on words that you would like to be described as, an example of this could be “powerful”, “abundant”, “loved”, “strong”.
Once you feel your vision board is complete, you will want to hang it somewhere you will see it every day! It is great to come back to it at least twice a day to envision and affirm with your board!
